Hemp Milk Recipe
Hemp milk is delicious and nutritious - a great liquid for your smoothie. Why use hemp protein powder when you can use unprocessed, organic hemp seeds purchased in bulk? You'll find shelled hemp seeds in your local Whole Foods or other health food store, or it's readily available online at
Nutiva.com.
Make 6-7 cups of hemp milk 1 cup hemp seeds (shelled) 5-6 cups of purified water Agave nectar or raw honey
Combine the water and the seeds in your blender on high for 2-3 minutes. Less water will create a thicker, creamier texture, of course. Add your sweetener of choice and blend again. Strain it through a cheese cloth if you'd like to remove the large seed particles. (The seed pulp can then be used as an excellent body scrub, facial mask or compost.) Use within 3 days - and keep it stored in a tightly sealed container. Since the contents separate, you'll want to shake it before throwing in your smoothie!
