Create Your Best Smoothie

What is your best smoothie?

First, if you already have a favorite recipe, I hope you share it with us!

If you want to work on designing your own personal smoothie recipe that you will want to make every day - one that inspires you toward healthy eating and an active lifestyle, one that feels good to drink and keeps you going for hours afterward, one that is not loaded with artificial junk and low-nutrient calories - than this is the place to explore!

We all gravitate toward favorite fruits. Let's say you love strawberries... that's great! You can make an easy strawberry smoothie recipe for yourself, using frozen strawberries and your favorite protein powder.

Add a green! Yes, your red strawberry smoothie will be discolored a little - but I guarantee that you will not taste that kale or spinach or beet green!

But here's the key: Change up your green once in a while. Don't take in the same green every morning with your strawberries (and other berries you might throw in there).

Also, add ground flax seeds or flax seed oil. There are countless health benefits to this little seed, but it will also add a nice fluff to your smoothie.

What's your liquid base? Water? Water and soy milk? Cow's milk and pineapple juice? It just depends, of course, on how many calories you want to add and how sweet you want it. I can tell you that full cream is going to be a dessert smoothie, soy milk is still going to be deliciously rich, and water is going to be a bit... refreshing... but perhaps not as satisfying (depending on your other ingredients).

So experiment and write it down... or just try something new every morning. Unless you're putting in a strong spice (like ginger), you can't add too much of anything!

Enjoy!
